This kintsugi necklace is inspired by the beautiful Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with with gold lacquer, known as Kintsugi (金継ぎ, “golden joinery”), or Kintsukuroi (金繕い, “golden repair”). This dainty silver disc features an engraved Kintsugi inspired crack that is filled with gold fill. It embraces the beauty of imperfect things- (“wabi sari”). Kintsugi is thought to honor brokenness and challenges in life — It celebrates the beauty in imperfection and the value of broken things. Like pottery our challenges and imperfections may cause us to feel broken, but they can also make us stronger and more resilient. The symbolism behind Kintsugi is a beautiful reminder that we can find healing admid the breakages. Kintsugi allows us to let go of the perfectionism and honor all of our pieces; not only the shiny unscathed ones, but the jagged ones as well. This beautiful gift can serve as an reminder of the importance of honoring your full history. The scars are not only a reminder of your survival, but of the beauty strength that can also be discovered.
This Kintsugi inspired pendant is paired with a dainty adjustable sterling silver or gold chain (please specify at checkout). The necklace will be paired with one of two card choices. The "Beautifully Broken" card, or the "Earth has no sorrows that heaven cannot heal" card, with separate kintsugi-themed quotes on the back (see photos).
